Samtime 1:04

I would say this is a clever idea, a clever idea by Sametime 7:15. When Michael Lease showed our class his side project, I found it very likable in a diarist sense, a moment captured in a split second, the documentation of the life we walk upon. What is great about this work is that it goes out side the whole "fine art" story of conception and meaning which is why I like this kind of work. I guess that is where I differ from others at this school.

People always have to believe that there is a message behind a photograph. To me, photography documents a time, a place, a person. I view each shot as a piece of beauty, an image to be attractive. I mean isn't that where the elements of art and principles of design came from? Line, shape, color, form, texture, space, value... balance, emphasis, pattern, repetition, contrast, movement, rythm, proportion, unity. I guess being a designer with my work is where I fault from all this conceptual crap.

Anyway, ranting carried on for way too long, but in all I believe this Sametime 1:04 is alright. I preferred what was happening at 7:15, but that's just me.

  3. Hey Liz,
I kinda like what your saying here. Could you be a little more specific as to where the line seems to be between the two blogs?
Also, what do you think of the concept behind either blog sites... versus a photo sharing site like flickr, or another site like Nikon's?

  4. To answer your question, I believe the line between 1:04's blog and 7:15's website is that 7:15 made more use with what is around them. I found each shot to be visually attractive and balanced. As for 1:04, the shot up at the ceiling during class lectures or the few shots at work seems to be getting a little old. Isn't that the point in this series... to show how life changes? How we stumble upon new things? I don't see anything new with it.

As for Flickr and Nikon photo sharing sites, they are to share photo's. To store photo's in other words. Or at least that is how I view them. It's like google, you search and find. As for the Sametime blogs, they are made for the idea of time. You can go on Flickr and not know specifically when something happened, they could even be made on photoshop. Sametime shows a specific time, a space. There are no questions when you look at the art of Samtime 7:15/1:04. It is what it is.
